Verizon has expanded its network reach in Africa and the Middle East, brining a number of new locations in the emerging markets online for its Private IP services.
Such services are used by enterprises wanting to transfer business data or applications.
Verizon said its international customers have increasingly been demanding a presence in these emerging regions, and that the solution is designed especially for latency-sensitive applications such as Voice-over IP (VoIP) and video and day-to-day operations.
They will also soon leverage the data center footprint of Terremark, the colo provider owned by Verizon which has a global data center footprint. Verizon said will soon offer Private IP connectivity through Terremark’s own network access point recently established in Amsterdam.
NAP Amsterdam is Terremark’s European flagship facility, and is directly connected to the rest of Europe through the Amsterdam Internet Exchange.
Verizon VP of enterprise sales for EMEA Martin Burvill said the network will also provide enterprises with the ability to prioritize applications, and advanced reporting tools for the network and application performance.
“Expansive network services like Verizon’s Private IP will play a central role in creating global connections between people, machines and their environments, and contributing to business and societal progress,” Burvill said.
He said Verizon’s high-IQ networks are now extended to Gabon, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Swaziland in Africa. This adds to 21 other African connections including Morocco, Bottswana and Namibia.
The Middle Dast the service has been extended to Bahrain and Qatar, which adds to services existing in most major Middle East markets including Israel, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the UAE.
